Wow! The students had an unbelievable day. We were quite productive! After our morning routine, we reviewed our shapes and completed a shape sorting activity. As part of our math routine, we also conducted a survey. The question for today's survey was, "Is your favorite flavor of ice cream strawberry?" We tallied our yes and no votes and counted our tallies to answer our question. Five students said strawberry was their favorite flavor of ice cream, and sixteen said no. We read another story in the Chester Raccoon series titled Chester Raccoon and the Big Bad Bully, which is a story that encourages children to play together nicely and to accept each other's differences. The students also worked on making a book about Chester Raccoon to keep in their own individual classroom book bins. Each child will keep a bin of books that we will add to as the year progresses. The goal is for children to always have a collection of books to look through and/or read that not only matches their reading abilities but also matches their interests. As the year progresses, I'll be working with the students to help them add some "just right" books to their book bins. As always, if you have any questions please let me know!

Wonderful Wednesday!
The students and I had a great day! We are quickly getting into the groove of our daily routine. After completing our calendar and phonemic awareness activities this morning, we introduced the first word on our word wall--I. We also read another Chester Raccoon story titled The Kissing Hand, which the children loved! After art class today, we spent some time practicing our coloring, cutting, and gluing skills while completing a math activity. We even had some time to explore some of our centers including the Lego table, the kitchen, the listening center, and the pattern block center. I am really looking forward to seeing all of you at Curriculum Night! See you soon!

What's Been Happening in K-2?
It has been truly wonderful to be back teaching in the classroom again! We are off to a great start! Each day I learn more and more about the students, and I am looking forward to a very productive year. We have already been busy building our classroom community and learning our daily routines. The students have been doing a great job with our morning routine which includes: introducing our "Hello Helper," completing our calendar activities, and working with words and sounds. In math, the students explored our pattern blocks and used descriptive words to describe the following shapes: triangle, square, rhombus, trapezoid, and hexagon. Looking forward to another great day!
